You may have noticed an increase in planned power interruptions in your area. During the summer of 2017, we started doing “prep work” for the renewal project. We will continue to plan interruptions when necessary to safely proceed with the upgrades.
We have already begun converting transformers in the area to 12KV, from their current 4KV configuration, and will continue to do that until they are all modified.
In April, we will start decommissioning the old aerial equipment and begin the civil work needed to prepare the site for the installation of the ground-level pad-mount transformers. The civil work will start late May-early June and will take about two months to complete.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2018, with all new equipment in service and functioning by that time.
The project concluded by the expected date of completion, October 2018! The Project Team and GSU can proudly say this very important upgrade was not only completed ON-TIME, but also 10% UNDER BUDGET! Congratulations on such a successful upgrade — a 70+ year old community asset is now once again state-of-the-art, providing safe and reliable power to residents and businesses.
